Just thought I’d make a brief post about how I’ve made some extra money on top of my wages this week:

No SEO, just some Pay Per Click, ebaying etc..

Made a small affiliate site, I noticed the most Micro Niche ever and realized some incentive permitted affiliate offers could work nicely. Took me 2 hours to chuck the page together, a single exact match phrase in Adwords and the result is $15.00 per day for £2.00 of clicks.

I’ve just moved to Bronco and I’m getting rid of stuff as I finish unpacking, first thing I sent two phones to Envirofone. I will get a cheque for £47 something or other in 7 working days.. money for nothing.

I then sold an extremely old PDA I’ve not used for the last 2 years – with a SD Wi-Fi card and GPS for £60.00 on ebay.. One mans rubbish is another mans.. anyway

Then theres the regular income, but it does demonstrate how easy it is to make a hundred quid with minimal effort.

I had an absolutely awesome time, was really made to feel welcome. We ate and drank so much. The start of both Saturday and Sunday was painful after all the booze.

The only negative of the whole weekend was the 5.5 hour drive to get there. Next time I think I’ll get the train! Got my damn windscreen cracked.

My intention was to take some photos, I have taken a few (like 6) but it doesn’t really show how beautiful Yorkshire is. I intend on going up again in January so I will try and take some more then weather permitting.

My photos:

Its been really interesting reading all the feedback and points of view from all the biggest names in the industry.

My thought is that Google is becoming a bit too big for there boots. Matt Cutts claims (on Shoemoney’s blog) that Google have technology that can detect paid links, regardless of whether they are nofollowed or not. If this is the case then there should be no issue because we’re not going to influence the algorithm. Does anyone else smell bullshit?

I wouldn’t normally link off to loads of sites but this makes for some interesting reading..

Today has been a chilled day after several crazy ones! So I’ve upgraded a few of my blogs, done some browsing etc.

I know a lot of Adsense Publishers in the SEO area create “Micro” Sites from multiple sources hosts etc and link them all back to the main website. The Adsense is a way to get some revenue back from these scraper sites.

So an easy way for Google to link all of these sites is through the Adsense ID:
http://www.searchforecast.com/google_adsense_publisher_directory/mrmovietimes.com

Of course, I doubt they use this specific service. But it really demonstrates how easy it is to create a Digital Foot Print. Remember: Different Hosts, Different Registrars, Different Registrant details. Over 200 ranking factors. You’ve gotta be smart or your gonna get penalized.

Tracking your link building is a vital part of SEO and is often overlooked or confused.

The majority of people currently track inbound links using the “link:” function in Google or Yahoo. This is actually a terrible representation. I’m not completely sure why (it hasn’t always been) but I think its to protect how many links a site really has to try and kill off SEO’s link buying activities.

The most accurate place to check is in the Google Webmasters Tools, the same place you submit your site map. To view the link data you will need to verify, preventing SEO’s from gathering inbound link data. However you don’t need to verify to submit a site map anymore.

This is really useful to know for many reasons. It highlights the most interesting parts of your site. Which probably are also your highest ranking. It also highlights weak areas, allowing you to check for errors or other problems that could cause this.

Here are the 10 most important things I consider when doing SEO:

A good strategy in place, highlighting key phrases. Without this no one knows what they’re doing
Â

Links – I’m not suggesting you buy them, but they are the key to any successful relationship with the Search Engines. Its even written in the Google Webmaster Guidelines.
Â

Meta Description and Meta Keywords, they may not count towards delivery but I’m fairly certain they’re used in an overall page Quality Score.
Â

Unique and Interesting Content
Â

Well laid out website which is easy to navigate, for your users and the spiders!
Â

Established Domain Name, the longer your domain name has been around the better it will perform.
Â

In bound links should be from different Class C IP Blocks and not from bad neighborhoods. Â
Â

Good Web Hosting with high up time and maybe even a dedicated IP Address if its your main website.
Â

Use Headings like H1, H2, H3 etc. These should be structured in the same way as any written document. So the top of the page is a H1, then multiple h2′s and h3′s you get my drift
Â

Page Titles seem to be extremely important at the moment! Make sure yours are not too long but very relevant.

Think I’ve got one wrong? Let me know!

Well as you know I’ve been online for sometime, I have recently been reading up on this “Google Sandbox Theory”. I will try to explain this as shortly as possible, no one enjoys long drawn out posts. Anyway enough waffle (which I’m so good at!).

Two Theories

All new sites Submitted to Google are now placed in a theoretical “Sandbox” away from the real world really. This period of time used to determine Spammy sites from the ones with unique content. Thus preventing Spammy sites getting good SERPS.

The second idea is that this actually has absolutely nothing to do with the physical site, rather the backlinks are only given partial credit for a probation period. Preventing sites shooting up the SERPS.

Conclusion is that Google are making an attempt to filter out spammy websites and are also as an affect preventing new websites establishing well in there SERPS for a certain amount of time. This may even be linked to a level of backlinks reached. Any thoughts/comments would be good!
