The launch of inlinks.com has had Internet Marketers, SEO’s and Search Engine employees (Matt Cutts) debating battling from all sides. Its been really interesting reading all the feedback and points of view from all the biggest names in the industry.

My thought is that Google is becoming a bit too big for there boots. Matt Cutts claims (on Shoemoney’s blog) that Google have technology that can detect paid links, regardless of whether they are nofollowed or not. If this is the case then there should be no issue because we’re not going to influence the algorithm. Does anyone else smell bullshit?

I wouldn’t normally link off to loads of sites but this makes for some interesting reading..

Today has been a chilled day after several crazy ones! So I’ve upgraded a few of my blogs, done some browsing etc.

I know a lot of Adsense Publishers in the SEO area create “Micro” Sites from multiple sources hosts etc and link them all back to the main website. The Adsense is a way to get some revenue back from these scraper sites.

So an easy way for Google to link all of these sites is through the Adsense ID:
http://www.searchforecast.com/google_adsense_publisher_directory/mrmovietimes.com

Of course, I doubt they use this specific service. But it really demonstrates how easy it is to create a Digital Foot Print. Remember: Different Hosts, Different Registrars, Different Registrant details. Over 200 ranking factors. You’ve gotta be smart or your gonna get penalized.

Tracking your link building is a vital part of SEO and is often overlooked or confused.

The majority of people currently track inbound links using the “link:” function in Google or Yahoo. This is actually a terrible representation. I’m not completely sure why (it hasn’t always been) but I think its to protect how many links a site really has to try and kill off SEO’s link buying activities.

The most accurate place to check is in the Google Webmasters Tools, the same place you submit your site map. To view the link data you will need to verify, preventing SEO’s from gathering inbound link data. However you don’t need to verify to submit a site map anymore.

This is really useful to know for many reasons. It highlights the most interesting parts of your site. Which probably are also your highest ranking. It also highlights weak areas, allowing you to check for errors or other problems that could cause this.
