Faceparty - Private Content [Revisited]

After my post on viewing private pictures on FaceParty, they made modifications to fix the weakness I highlighted in there website.

Of course this was half a job as you can still obtain all the data needed to view the content in some circumstances. However it is very limited, you will need a user that has uploaded one after the other, in addition has them in the “Recent Upload” area on the profile overview page.

So find that profile, in this example I am using the user scotch_chick, if this bothers you then I’m sorry. So go to her profile, as you can see she has two photos marked as “private” and two normal ones, chances are they’ve been uploaded at the same time - perfect. So lets examine the second photo which is available to everyone. Click through and enlarge it. Right click and “Copy image URL”

The image URL is: http://images.faceparty.com/pb/1998/images/scotch_chick_28837077.jpg

At the end of this image take not of the Image ID, this is a unique identifier for that photo. Paste this into notepad and keep it ready for reconstruction. Now go back, notice the third image along has a VERY similar number, copy the “Link Address” into Notepad on a new line.

The Link URL is: http://www.faceparty.com/gallery/view.aspx?pid=1465730&gid=0&iid=28824299

Now, we’ve got all the information required to view the private image. The image URL should be:

http://images.faceparty.com/pb/1998/images/scotch_chick_28824299.jpg

As you can see, this works perfectly in this instance. I’m sure FaceParty will patch this as well, now that I’ve mentioned it.

    what browser do you use?

    i use firefox
    there is no copy image url for Right Click

    Hi Sia,
    There will be something similiar in Firefox. I actually normally use Google Chrome, but this tutorial has been written for Internet Explorer 7.

    Doenst seem to be working again mate - how do you figure out how to get round the private content issue? Ive tried a few different numbers and letters but cannot seem to do it - there must be a way of gaining access without the password lol.

    Haha well done Anthony! I too figured this method out all on my own. DAM! I did wonder why faceparty wised up on covering the numeric names of private pictures. I thought about sharing the wealth of my knowledge but knew if I did too many people would abuse the privilege and well… by your tutorial going public this has proved my point! Nevermind.

    I have been searching for ages to find a faceparty password but there is none about so i give up they will not let you in my account was deleted to

    anyway a friend told me about http://www.jaydiocity.co.uk which i now use better than faceparty anyway.
